Karl J. Veldkamp

Karl brings in excess of 35 years of corporate commercial experience to the firm. He grew up around and with entrepreneurs and he “understands” business – thus connects well. Called to the bar of the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1986, he was trained at the undergraduate level in Business Administration and Commerce (University of Alberta - includes a year on the Dean’s List) – and then at the graduate level in law (University of British Columbia and the University of Alberta), graduating with an LL.B. from the University of Alberta Law School (1984). 

Karl regularly sits on the boards of directors of both “for profit” corporations and not-for-profit corporations and is very active in professional continuing legal education organizations [International Sales Committee – 2007-2017, Co-Chair: 2016 and 2017; Board of Governors: Redeemer University College: 2011-2017 – Board Chair for 2015-2017; Canadian Reformed Theological Seminary (multiple terms, several as Vice Chair of the Board). 

Karl travels extensively, reads constantly (everything), tries to keep up with four children (two now married with their own children) and makes every effort to stay fit. and makes every effort to stay fit. He is exploring a Master of Letters (M.Litt) degree with universities in Ireland and the United Kingdom with a tilt to law, theology and commerce.

Jessica E. Miedema

Called to the Bar of the Law Society of Upper Canada in July of 2005, Jessica has quickly distinguished herself. A graduate of McMaster University, where she received an Honours B.A. in Classics and History, Jessica was a fixture on the Deans’ Honour List throughout her time there. Jessica received her LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. Jessica has quickly developed a sharp and thorough grounding in a variety of commercial challenges and has demonstrated the ability to critically analyze. 

Jessica has developed particular skills in complex corporate matters, reorganizations and restructuring. She likes tax! That alone makes her incredibly valuable. She “appreciates” and enjoys complex challenges and problems.
